Then comes the flood of varying responses, but the most common is to see somebody suggesting peaks at -6 or -3 dB. While that isn’t incorrect, it’s also a bit arbitrary.
In the newest Traktor 3 preferences, there is “Apply Headroom to Channel meters” in Mixer > Internal mixing mode section. Do you tick that option? Turn Traktor’s master output control down – somewhere around -10dB works well (assuming you have a decent sound card) Turn the gain on the amp or analogue mixer you’re plugged in to up to compensate if necessary – this will give you plenty of headroom, so when you drop that track that hasn’t been mastered quite so loud, you can crank up the channel gains in Traktor without worrying about distortion A typical 8-buss project-studio board, say Mackie or Ghost is designed to operate at +4dbU…. which means the board’s meters are calibrated so that 0db represents a signal level of 1.23 volts. 2016-02-23 · I have an S2 MkI and it's LED VU Meter always shows that I am clipping when I am in fact not. I think the culprit is the fact that Traktor's headroom setting is at 6db, which if I weren't using it, I would be clipping. So unfortunately, the S2's meters does not take in to account the headroom and still shows clipping.
Traktor already has a "hard" headroom you can't touch, like all good music programs.
Any channel with the Relay plug-in on it can be viewed in Intelligibility Meter and on the Spectrogram inside Insight 2, letting you visually compare your track to the rest of the mix. Relay is also compatible with iZotope’s Visual Mixer plug-in, letting you adjust the levels, pan, and width of your tracks in a visual space.
